KidcoMove explained..
PHYSICAL SKILLS
Physical growth in a child is supported by the development of both gross and fine motor skills.
Gross motor skills involve large muscle movements that help with strength. Examples of Gross motor skills include; co-ordination for running, jumping, climbing, catching and throwing.
Fine motor skills involve smaller movements that require accuracy and dexterity, mostly using the hands and fingers. Examples of fine motor skills are for writing, buttoning, zipping, threading, cutting with scissors, building blocks, puzzles and using utensils for eating.
SOCIO-EMOTIONAL SKILLS
These skills enable a child to understand and interact effectively with others, help with expressing their feelings, dealing with challenges, competition and navigating social interactions and engagement with others.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
This enables a child to communicate effectively with others and can be achieved through a focus on speaking and comprehension skills, expressing their thoughts and ideas.
COGNITIVE SKILLS
These are skills which enable a child to carry out everyday tasks such as thinking, learning, reading, remembering information, logic and reasoning as well as problem-solving.
